SUMMARY:
The Manager, Advocacy & Crisis Intervention Services is a contributing member of the Safety and Wellness Team and will have the primary responsibility for full alignment and integration of sexual violence advocacy and crisis intervention services with overall sexual violence services and YWCA organizational priorities. Role is accountable to The Director, Advocacy & Crisis Intervention Services and responsible for the daily operations, delivery and impact of quality sexual violence advocacy services. In addition, the Manager will develop and implement strategies for continually expanding SVSS’ network of community partnerships to build strong programs for survivors and their families that help build resiliency.
COLLABORATES WITH:
Builds strong internal relationships with the Safety and Wellness Leadership and teams and YWCA Leadership and operations teams. Fosters influential external partnerships with a range of community organizations, local and state coalitions and advisory councils representing victim services, mental health, and human services.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct Services: Deliver a range of direct advocacy and other support services to individuals impacted by sexual violence. Services may include but are not limited to crisis intervention, hospital accompaniment/medical advocacy, criminal justice advocacy, general/personal advocacy, and information and referral.
Program Operation: Develop, implement and manage Advocacy Services, inclusive of ensuring the development and management of program goals and outcomes, and alignment with program model and approach and compliance with YWCA strategic direction and funder regulations. Develop short-range program plans and recommend expansion of services informed by a diverse data sets and channels. Oversee the collection of outcome measures and maintain required statistic, and records in compliance with funder guidelines. Incorporate racial justice framework into department goals, outcomes and deliverable. Establish and maintain effective relationships with professionals, public and private institutions, and units of government and community agencies to achieve an integrated and consistent network. Foster strong relationships with diverse victim serving entities to ensure awareness and utilization of services and troubleshoot barriers/concerns. Facilitate navigation of Victim Compensation application process to ensure an increasing number of applications are successful. Cultivates internal/external cross-sector relationships and work opportunities that connect survivors with a range of YWCA and external partners resources and services. Serves on local and state advisory councils and coalitions representing the YWCA and promoting all services and programs. Ensure consistency and efficient service delivery and program operations resulting in the expansion and continuation of services. Adhere to, establish, and implement the appropriate reporting system(s) for all program services; ensure that required records and statistics are maintained according to funding requirements, YWCA guidelines and legal requirements.
Leadership and Management: The Manager facilitates recruitment, training, development and retention of highly qualified staff, and investment in their personal development. Plan, assign and direct the work of immediate subordinates and informs and counsel Director on program issues that relate to staff effectiveness and program results. Creates and supports high-performance teams across geographic area; Performs as strategic partner to diverse leadership teams to influence change and new processes; Foster a social enterprise mindset and culture of engagement. Perform designated public speaking engagements and media relations, inclusive leveraging social media platforms.
Growth and Innovation: The Manager collaborates with diverse internal and external stakeholders to design, pilot and evaluate innovative programs and activities. Collaborates with Strategic Engagement Team to provide strong program services statistics and persuasive narratives; strategic measurements for grant proposals and individual donor development; and industry expertise when considering new initiatives. Understand and interpret YWCA business strategy, priorities, and design and implement innovative solutions that align with survivors and other end users expectations and experiences
Fiscal Management: Maximize program reimbursements and compliance with regulations. Assist in preparation and administration of program budget and reports, as appropriate and required.
Professional Development: Complete twelve hour per year of continuing education as set by YWCA or other agencies/funders.
NON-ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Participate in organizational, division program meetings and special projects as appropriate.
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED: Other duties outside of the responsibilities of the position may be assigned; whether for a project; special needs task or other assignment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to complete the ICASA 40-hour sexual assault crisis intervention training within 90 days of employment start date. Knowledge of interpersonal trauma and survivor characteristics. Minimum of two to three years of supervisory experience in one of the following areas: crisis intervention, youth services and/or educational/medical programming. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Strong assessment, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Highly effective interpersonal, relationship-building, written/verbal communication and presentation skills. The ability to work collaboratively or independently, depending on the situation. Availability to provide backup 24/7 on-call, rotating schedule. Thrives in an environment in which collaboration, partnership, and empowerment are the keys cultural elements. Intermediate skill level in MS Office suite or other productivity platforms.
EDUCATION REQUIRED: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university/college or some college and 10 years of management experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The position requires working in office where survivors of trauma and assault, and their family member are present. As such, the Manager must be able to professional handle unexpected crisis. The essential functions of the position requires operation of computers and other office equipment and movement between offices. The noise level is usually moderate. Movement requirements including walking, stooping or kneeling. There may be a need to reach or to lift objects, such as packages or supplies. Communication needs include seeing, hearing and speaking. While in the office, there will be periods of sitting, holding a telephone and using computers. Travel to location within the city of Chicago, South Cook County, DuPage County, or other areas of Illinois when required. Reasonable accommodations will be made for an incumbent to meet the essential responsibilities of the position.
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 9:00 am-5:00 pm. This position may require work on some evenings and weekends and participating in the on-call schedule, as needed. Schedule can vary depending on the needs of the agency.
