As a Meat Specialist, you will consult with and advise our retail customer base on best practices to grow market share, increase perishable revenue, and improve profitability. This role involves direct engagement with decision-makers and Independent Retailers to support sales and merchandising efforts across perishable categories, while increasing participation in company products and programs.Job DescriptionFull-Time, On-Site RoleLocation: This position can be based anywhere within the Northern Wisconsin region and requires travel to 29 Piggly Wiggly stores.You will contribute by:Executing quarterly sell programsSupporting reset activities, including new store and redesign set-upsProviding regular category training on new items, merchandising, and departmental best practicesInforming special activities, demand forecasts, product surveys, and promotional bookingsOptimizing category assortments and addressing key category voids in collaboration with Category Management and Merchandising/Procurement teamsAssisting department managers, owners, and/or supervisors with product selection, training, merchandising, and retail pricing to establish proper gross profitsWriting ads using the ad program and maintaining product lists with acceptable retailsMaking routed store visits to support retailers in strengthening their business relationship with our company through problem solving, program development, and trust-buildingSelling special buy programs and associated merchandising plansMonitoring and communicating competitive activities, both locally and nationallyPresenting and selling new programs and services while educating retailer buyers and representatives on our offeringsFrequently traveling to stores within the assigned region.We're searching for candidates with: Background in meat categories, with experience in retail, wholesale, or vendor environmentsStrong understanding of perishable product supply chains and supermarket operationsFamiliarity with wholesale functions such as transportation, logistics scheduling, and equipmentStrong relationship-building skills and ability to work independently in the fieldProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including ExcelFood Safety Certification is required or must be eligible for certificationAbility to work independently and manage a schedule of store visits and remote workWillingness and ability to travel frequently2-5 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 5-7 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree Environment:Store : Office Temperature (65F to 75F)Office : Office Temperature (65F to 75F)We offer:Weekly PayBenefits available from day 1 (medical, dental, vision, and more)Company matched 401kPTO and Holiday Pay offeredCareer Progression OpportunitiesTuition ReimbursementEmployee Health & Wellness programEmployee Discounts / Purchasing programsEmployee Assistance ProgramEvery person matters.We keep our values alive through a culture that embraces differences and ensures that every person matters.The Fine PrintThis Job advertisement does not constitute a promise or guarantee of employment.
