1. Key Responsibilities
1.1. Collaboration
1.1.1. Report directly to the Mechanical Manager regarding most daily tasks.
1.1.2. Take indirect direction and tasks from others on the ASI management and engineering teams as needed for project specific work.
1.1.3. Communicate regularly with other technicians, engineers, and managers to ensure work is performed accurately and efficiently.
1.1.4. Provide direction to technicians and other engineers as necessary to support the design, fabrication, assembly, and installation of custom solutions.
1.1.5. Provide technical support for sales activities including site visits and project estimation.
1.1.6. Interact with customers, vendors, and suppliers.
1.2. Mechanical Design
1.2.1. Participate in conceptual, automated system design.
1.2.2. Generate custom mechanical designs within required time and other constraints utilizing Autodesk Inventor.
1.2.3. Identify technologies to improve the operation of existing equipment and design new equipment.
1.2.4. Generate document design narratives and engineering analysis as well as develop and present designs and proposals.
1.3. Fabrication, Assembly, and Installation
1.3.1. Oversee and participate in the installation and operation of various electromechanical systems.
1.3.2. Experience operating manual machining equipment, such as mills and lathes, is a plus as well as experience using measurement tools and more manual hand tools for custom fabrication of parts when necessary.
1.3.3. Troubleshooting mechanical equipment and systems is a plus.
1.3.4. Welding is a plus. This typically consists of MIG welding mild steel.
1.3.5. Utilize hand tools as necessary to assembly equipment. Drills, taps, wrenches, screwdrivers, and other manual and powered hand tools. It is expected that you will have your own set of hand tools to be used for work.
1.3.6. Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work environment throughout the fabrication area as well as the entire ship. This includes general housekeeping duties such as trash removal, floor sweeping, and part/material organizing.
2. Requirements
2.1. Education
2.1.1. Bachelor's degree in engineering. Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
2.2. Experience
2.2.1. 1+ years of experience with 3D CAD software. Autodesk Inventor is preferred.
2.2.2. Prior experience in mechanical engineering or other related fields is a plus.
2.3. Skills
2.3.1. Self-motivated and organized.
2.3.2. Ability to bend and left 50 plus pounds.
2.3.3. Must be able to travel to work at customer facilities as necessary.
2.3.4. Able to pass a background check as well as pre-employment and random drug screenings.
2.3.5. Able to multitask and work with minimal supervision.
2.3.6. Possess and maintain a clean driving record and valid US driver's license.
2.3.7. Knowledge of a variety of mechanical systems.
2.3.8. Familiarity with manufacturing designs and schematics is a plus.
2.3.9. Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
2.3.10. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
3. Reporting Structure
3.1. Reports to the Mechanical Manager.
3.2. Will take tasks and responsibilities from other managers and engineers as needed.
