Job Description

Summary:
The Parent Advocate is responsible for serving as a liaison for parents who need assistance to
complete applications and other forms related to benefits and services.

Responsibilities:
Work with clients who need assistance in areas such as housing, public assistance,
Medicaid, schools and the juvenile justice system. Represents the agency at various
councils, committees and with other agencies, according to program needs.
Provide translation services, when needed and possible.
Organize and lead parent self-help and advocacy groups and coordinate efforts with
other service providers and networks.
Provides childcare/supervision while parents are involved in program services.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
High School Diploma or equivalency.
1 year of experience working with children and families.
Some experience either paid or as volunteer in helping children and parents.
Ability to work in diverse social, cultural, and economic groups.
Good communication and listening skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Ability to plan and carry out assignments.
Ability to prioritize, adhere to timelines and multi-task.
