About Company:

We are an online marketplace for high-quality refurbished tech. Customers can discover and purchase smartphones, laptops, tablets, headphones, and more for 30 70% less than new. Each one of our devices comes with a one-year warranty and 30-day no-questions-asked returns.

While 90% of consumers report being aware of refurbished as a category, and 60% claim they are confident in the quality of the tech, less than half of those customers actually choose to purchase refurbished over new.

We are opening our first physical pop-up store to give our customers the chance to touch and experience the quality of refurbished tech in person - to convince them that refurbished is better than new!

Our store will be a combination of a showroom and retail space. We are seeking an experienced store manager to partner with our local corporate headquarters to manage the store's daily operations and share in our ambition to understand how this store can complement our online business and drive more sales.

About the Role:

We are seeking a Store Manager with an entrepreneurial spirit and curiosity to help us test and learn what a successful store experience looks like for a leading refurbished tech marketplace. This role will be less about the number of units sold each day and more focused on delivering an exceptional customer experience and gathering business insights that will help shape our retail strategy.

The Store Manager is first and foremost an ambassador for our brand, prioritizing customer service above all else. You must know, embody, and actively communicate our mission and values to every customer.

You will be responsible for directly managing a cross-functional retail sales team, overseeing the daily operations of the store, and collaborating closely with our corporate office on inventory management, merchandising, in-store programming, and providing detailed feedback on customer behavior and questions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Staff Management
    • Create and maintain staff schedules
    • Address employee concerns and provide leadership
  • Store Operations
    • Open and close the store according to company policy
    • Managing loss prevention through monitoring and maintaining security systems and protocols
    • Effectively manage customer flow/wait time
    • Execute the store's visual merchandising plans, which includes ensuring devices are charged, displays are on and wifi is working
    • Partner with the corporate office to manage stock replenishments
    • Ensure store cleanliness and compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Customer & Community Engagement
    • Lead by example on the sales floor
    • Be the face of the brand by engaging with customers, educating them on the quality of refurbished products and creating an immersive shopping experience
    • Build rapport with customers and provide excellent service
    • Promote customer participation in planned store events and programming
  • Feedback and Insights
    • Daily debriefs with the corporate office to share feedback (and improvement recommendations) on the day, including:
    • Traffic volumes
    • Customer's areas of interest
    • Friction points in the store

Qualifications:

    • Proven experience in retail management, preferably in a temporary 'pop up shop' and or electronics/telco store
    • Ability to work independently and take initiative
    • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Frequently required to stand, walk, kneel, and bend for long periods of time
    • Frequently required to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
    • Familiarity with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets), Apple hardware, and adaptability to other technology or systems as provided

Schedule & Compensation:

  • Flexibility in schedule; weekends and holidays are required; may be required to work over 40 hours a week as necessary
