Join Powell in Houston, TX (77075)

Powell is an engineer-to-order manufacturer of switchgear, and our Houston facility is seeking a seasoned technician to keep our advanced production lines running at their best. As a Manufacturing Equipment Reliability Technician, you’ll be central to maintaining and repairing CNC laser and turret punch systems, robotic welding cells, automated material handling, and our automated powder coat painting line.

A Day in the Life

You kick off your shift by reviewing CMMS work orders and preventive maintenance tasks. A robotic welder needs a sensor checked; the powder-coat conveyor requires inspection; and a CNC turret press shows a minor alarm in the log. With schematics and layouts in hand, you diagnose issues methodically—electrical circuits on occasion, hydraulics and pneumatics frequently, and control devices as needed—sourcing parts from equipment drawings and parts lists. Throughout the day, you collaborate with operators and other teams, working safely around heights, electricity, hydraulics, and heavy moving equipment.

What You’ll Handle

• Interpret mechanical/electrical schematics, assembly drawings, and equipment layouts.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on CNC lasers, CNC turret punches, robotic welding, automated material handling, and automated powder-coat systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair control devices, pneumatics, and hydraulic circuits/components.
• Occasionally diagnose and repair electrical circuits, from 12 VDC up to 480 VAC 3-phase.
• Use our CMMS to execute and close work orders according to procedure.
• Identify and order parts using drawings, schematics, and parts lists.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams; support and mentor crew members.
• Follow all safety and environmental policies and procedures.

• Pros willing to work long hours and some weekends as needed, and to operate tools, machines, cameras, phones, and scanners safely in noisy environments.

Working & Environmental Conditions

• Safety-sensitive role in a temperature-controlled manufacturing/industrial setting with periodic outdoor tasks.
• PPE required: safety shoes, hard hat or bump cap, safety glasses, hearing protection, harnesses, and respirators when needed.
• Work from step and A-frame ladders; perform tasks at heights up to ~20 ft using lifts and fall protection.
• Vision demands: close and distance focus, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and hand-eye coordination.
• Physical demands: maintain balance/agility on stairs and ladders; bend at waist/knees; reach in all directions; frequent use of upper extremities, including overhead work and full arm extension; continuous standing/walking; lift up to 50 lbs; frequent use of hand and power tools.

Openings are available across levels, with experience aligned to the selected level (Industrial Maintenance Tech Level 1 through Senior Industrial Maintenance Tech).
